Neuroscience Omics Facility

Formerly known as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)

The MultiPark Neuroscience Omics Facility is located at the BMC in Lund. The facility offers access to state-of-the art next generation sequencing technology for experimental and preclinical studies with particular expertise in handling tissue samples from the rodent and human brain. It is a core facility providing you with a full service – from RNA isolation to initial bioinformatics analysis. The core has expertise in handling many different types of tissues and cells, including the analysis of samples with very small amount of RNA.

The facility is open to all MultiPark researchers, Lund University affiliates and external academic users. The services provided include:

  • Support with RNA/DNA isolation from brain samples
  • Library preparation, including single-nuclei brain samples (the core has access to a 10X Chromium Platform)
  • QC of RNA/DNA samples and sequencing libraries

The facility is closely connected to the Center for translational genomics (CTG, https://www.ctg.lu.se/welcome-ctg) and has access to the CTG frontline sequencing instruments.

The facility also supports with transferring data from CTG, data storage and data back-up. The platform keeps a constant dialogue with LUNARC and StemTherapy to monitor storage possibilities. If necessary, (e.g. in case of extremely large data-sets) users may have to make storage agreements directly with LUNARC or other storage facilities.

Charges
Use of the core facility is free of charge and users only pay for reagents. Approximate costs (internal users) for one single RNA-seq sample typically range from 1000 SEK – 3000 SEK for bulk samples and 20.000-30.000 SEK for single-nuclei samples / sample - but are dependent on the design of the project.
